When your water heater stops working, you need fast, reliable service from a licensed local plumber. At Rooter Pal Plumbing, we specialize in water heater repair, replacement, and installation across Bellevue, Kirkland, Redmond, and Bothell. Whether you’re upgrading to a tankless water heater or replacing an old tank, we make the process simple, affordable, and code-compliant.

Do You Need a New Water Heater?

Most water heaters last 8–12 years. Call Rooter Pal Plumbing if you notice:

  • Rusty or cloudy hot water
  • Leaks at the base of your water heater
  • Inconsistent hot water supply
  • Strange noises (rumbling or banging)
  • High utility bills without explanation

If your system is over 10 years old and showing these issues, replacement is often more cost-effective than repair.

Signs Your Water Heater May Need Replacement or Repair

  1. It’s getting old: Your hot water heater can be expected to last 6 to 13 years. If it’s an older unit and it’s having problems, you may want to opt for replacement instead of repair.
  2. There is rust in your water: It’s possible that your water heater is rusting, which could lead to a leak. Discolored water can have other causes, however. An assessment can determine the source of the problem.
  3. It’s creating noise: Over time, sediment can build up in your hot water tank. The noise may sound like clanking, popping or rumbling. We can investigate to determine a solution.
  4. It’s leaking onto the floor: As mentioned above, rust in a hot water heater can eventually lead to leaks, and could warrant replacement. What appears to be a leak in your hot water heater could actually be a leak in your pipes, however.
  5. It’s just not working very well: If you’ve noticed a reduction in your hot water supply, it may be a problem with your hot water heater. We can help determine the cause and the best course of action.
